KANEVILLE -- A 20-year-old Maple Park man died Saturday after his car crashed into another.

Sheriff's police said around 4:15 a.m. Brandon D. Peterson Ackerman was driving east on Main Street, east of Owens Road. He tried to pass another car, and struck a vehicle driving west on the road, police said.

The driver of the other car, Stephen C. Hanson, 42, of Compton, did not have life-threatening injuries, police said.

Ackerman was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, police said.

Sheriff's detectives continue to investigate the accident.

On Sunday, police would not provide additional information.
