Department Events and NewsThese are the events in which the department has been and will be involved. You may want to search for topics by keyword. 4/2/05 -- Through a grant, KFD and other local department members were able to spend the day at IFSI training in the Tax Payer, a concrete 2-story building, practicing basic and more advanced fire ground operations. Photos 3/16/05 -- The annual Egg Hunt will be held March 26th at the department beginning at 11:30 am. Hot dogs, chips, drinks and cookies will be provided and the egg hunt itself will follow lunch. The Easter Bunny will be available for photos. 01/19/05 -- Draw-Down Tickets For Sale -- Our fifth annual draw-down fund raiser will be February 5, 2005 at Lion's Park in Elburn. Tickets are available from any firefighter and are $50 each, which includes a pork chop dinner. This is the department's largest fund raising event of the year and has had wonderful turnout in previous years. See the Draw-Down page for more information. 2/17/04 -- A dinner sponsored by the trustees was held to show appreciation to the Kaneville volunteers for all the time and effort they put in to make Kaneville a safe place to live and work. See the Photos page for more information. 12/09/03 -- Draw-Down Tickets For Sale -- Our fourth annual draw-down fund raiser will be February 6, 2004 at Lion's Park in Elburn. Tickets are available from any firefighter and are $50 each, which includes a pork chop dinner. This is the department's largest fund raising event of the year and has had wonderful turnout in previous years. See the Draw-Down page for more information. 12/09/03 -- Photo Fund Raiser -- A representative will be around to schedule a photo sitting to take place in February, 2004. Proceeds will be put toward emergency medical equipment and supplies. 12/02/03 -- Ambulance Service -- Beginning February 1, 2004 Big Rock will be providing ambulance service to the Kaneville Fire Protection District. Previously service has been through Elburn. We look forward to participation and closer association with the Big Rock Fire Department. 10/14/03 -- New air packs placed in use -- The air packs we were able to purchase with grant money have been placed in use. These are 4500 psi carbon fiber bottles, smaller and lighter-weight than our previous 2215 psi bottles, and have new masks. The masks are easier to put on, connect easier to the air pack and have a display on the mask allowing the wearer to easily determine how much air is remaining in their tank. All the trucks now have these packs installed in place of the older models. 10/10/03 -- New air compressor installed -- The air compressor purchased with grant money has been installed by Air One and is ready for use. The compressor allows easier bottle refills over the previous cascade system and doesn't require trailering the cascade to another department for refilling.
